Stephen E. Smith is a co-founder of Enova Medical Technologies, and serves as Chairman and General Counsel for Enova Medical Technologies, and of Exos Corporation. He has practiced law in the Minneapolis St. Paul metropolitan area continuously since 1967 with a focus on the representation of start-up, development stage and emerging businesses. From January 1, 1999 – December 31, 2003, Steve served as full-time General Counsel and Vice President of Advanced Respiratory, Inc., a manufacturer of a medical device. As Vice President he was responsible for the opening of five sales offices around the country, the retention and management of about 70 direct sales personnel, and attended to various reimbursement efforts with Medicare, various state Medicaids, and commercial payers. As General Counsel he provided legal guidance to Advanced Respiratory and managed the efforts of various outside counsel. During his tenure at Advanced Respiratory, the company grew revenue from approximately $9,000,000 to $55,000,000 and was sold to Hillenbrand Industries, Inc. for its Hill-Rom Division in October 2003. Prior to joining Advanced Respiratory he was a shareholder in the law firm of Doherty, Rumble & Butler, P.A., (1985-1999) at various times serving on the Board of Directors and heading the Business Department. He was also the firm's representative to International Lawyers Network, a global network of law firms from over 60 countries worldwide. Steve is currently on the Board of Directors of Sjoberg & Tebelius, P.A., a mid market, locally based law firm, ScanHealth, Inc., d/b/a Sansio, a point of sale data collection technology company, Terras Irradient, Inc., d/b/a Enova Medical Technologies, and Roys Point Marina Association, and is a member of the Executive Staff of Ascension Episcopal Church in Stillwater, MN. Steve graduated from Amherst College, Amherst, Massachusetts in 1964 with a B.A. degree in Economics, and from the University of Minnesota in 1967 with a Juris Doctor degree.
Jim ‘Woody’ Woodburn, MD, MS is the President of Woodburn Health Consulting LLC, based in Deephaven, MN. Woody was Chief Medical Officer for MinuteClinic from 2005 to 2007. In his role as Chief Medical Officer, he worked with the CEO to develop strategic plans and eventual acquisition by CVS/Caremark Inc. Prior to joining the national expansion of MinuteClinic, Woody worked for 12 years at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota where he developed innovative employer-based health improvement programs to improve the lives of employees nationwide. He worked with Blue Cross physicians and nurses across the country as a Founder and Chairman of the Blue Cross Association Medical Management Forum. Woody serves on the Board of Directors of Veralight (Albuquerque, NM), Exos Medical (White Bear Lake, MN) and MyHealthDirect (Milwaukee, WI). He is a member of the Lemhi Ventures (Excelsior, MN) team as physician advisor, assisting the fund in clinical and care delivery investment decisions and management support. In addition, he is an integral part of Boundary Medical, Inc. (Eden Prairie, MN) leading strategic and operational implementations of clinical outcome measurement and management systems nationwide. Dr. Woodburn,has been a physician since 1984. He trained at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School and has two engineering degrees in electrical and computer engineering and a Master’s degree in biomedical engineering. He completed his medical residency and academic fellowship in Emergency Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in 1988.
